Hi everyone I’ve been tinkering with this idea for a bit. This is an esp32 controlled fermenter. I just put in a 1/4 pound bright Virginia leaf as a test. The enclosure is 3d printed.
Any ideas to improve are welcomed.

I have an update. I had to spend some dialing in the program. I have it stable 69%rh and 108F. It’s been a week holding steady I haven’t smelled any ammonia and some of the leaves are still crispy and some are pliable? I rotate the pile everyday. I don’t if this has anything to do but the heater is below the leaf by an 1” or so. Maybe to close to heater? Any thoughts on setup or just be patient haha. Thanks everyone.

That seems quite close, since the fan is just below the lid. What are you using as a heater?

I have 3” flex watt heater. Total 18 watts. Metal taped to an aluminum mesh bed. Today the top leaves seems pliable bottom dry. Was thinking move fan to bottom of cooler and raise leaf bed up as high as possible.

Yes, that would be an improvement to get air circulating the bottom leaves.
Regarding the Virginia, ive not had any ammonia smell after kilning. I did have a 1 pound out of 4 smell like cat pee after 4 weeks at 93°F. The only difference being is I didn't dry these down to low case after opening the bag it came in. After resting for a month the tobacco was a bit bland but otherwise unharmed. I have noticed the tobacco darken over the following 3 months but I have not tried any more of this batch. The other three pounds were fine and improved greatly after resting for a month (and a notable darkening). For Virgina, the resting period after kilning sees more improvement than right after kilning. Just to note, I kiln in jars as to not worry about RH.
