Twins Yipes couldn't you separate them Fisherman?
So I started some seeds today (FINALLY) I used Mr. BigBonner's Idea to drop the seeds into the tray. But you need to watch for static electricity a conductor material to move the seeds is not good
I used a tooth pick like Mr. BigBonner and it worked out great. I also added white paper to the bottom side to make the seeds really stand out.

Six types in there 6 each I put 2 seeds in each start cup
The start mix is 30% Sta-Green Vermiculite & Miracle-Gro Seed Starting Mix I removed all twigs bark pieces etc anything big and chunky. This is sort of a take-off of Deluxestogie's 2012 grow blog.

I used masking tape on the bottom side and static dryer sheets to get rid of the static .Just wipe the sheet all over the plexi glass and that solves the static problem . You may have to re wipe it after alot of use .
I cut a strip of cereal box card board and covered the tip with masking tape to scoot the seds to the hole .
With clear glass the soil shines through and you can't see the seeds .
I take a small artist brush to sweep the unused seeds back into my seed jars .

This is the best method I have seen so far . I made mine in a four inch wide tray about one and a half inches deep .

I posted it here on FTT and as far as I know this isn't posted anywhere else yet .

Worked great for me BigBonner and scooting the seed around was a cake walk...my seed are in little bags so I just held it under the extended edge of the seed jig an pushed the left overs back into the bag. I may paint the back side white except for a strip where the holes are so I can see to line them up. Maybe add a second line of holes the jig is a keeper...........
Used a toothpick to move the seed and no more static problem

BigB, I think your inventions for seed starting are fantastic, especialy when you have confidence on your seed germination rate. Simple, yet very effective and useful. Thanks for posting. I would like to understand more how you made the dimple board.,Now that was really cool. It beats the hades out of poking your fanger 72 times per tray.;)

Good luck and good weather this year AmaxB! I hope your first grow is a huge success.

haha loader to scrape the top would be great but after what I just spent on my chamber box think mama would have a fit.

I always felt that was a waste to scrape the top that way. I have a new neigbor down the road who did that this year. I'm curios how his will do. I like to keep adding as much organic matter to mine as possible, hence cover crops. Mine was crimson clover this year and I had a huge swarm of bees fly directly over a few weeks ago and my garden is buzzing.

Gives me 18 more tobacco plants (261) and space for veggies.
Will be setting more seed to germinate this evening (got to get this going). Will do some with a mix of Sphagnum Peat Moss, Blood Meal, and Bone Meal thinking I'll keep the meal on a low percentage than add more food later.

Not cool and disappointing so much for ground clips will get bricks now.

I used the clips with rocks on the edge between the clips. Had you cut your X's already, the wind could have gone out the holes instead of turning the fabric into huge sails. If you can keep the edges down, and a way for the air to escape out the middle, you should be good to go. We had a pretty good thunderstorm yesterday and fortunately mine survived with no problem. That's a heartbreaking sight.
