...i know of that is growing so i know for sure i dont have any one else around here growing in the next 2 countys.
I think not bagging in that situation is perfectly fine for your own use of the seed. If you have thoughts of ever passing the seed from this lineage to other growers in the future, then they really should be bagged.

Been looking for NUT BAGS haven a hard time finding any though. Asked a stranger on the street if she might know where to find some. She give me directions to a state institution ;)

My first patch is still slowly growing. Virginia Gold K326 and Burley TN90. I have one Burley plant bagged and one more putting on a bud head. No others are budding. I'll get a small crop out of this one. Topping and bagging will be easy unless all that bending over tires me out. lol

The other end of the first patch. YTB, Olor, Jalapa, Samsun-Maden and Izmir.

The lower seed grow out patch is looking very good. Some of the Turks and Bulgarians are putting on buds. The variance in height is due to planting out over the course of about a month. I could only plant a few varieties at a time between rains. They are growing well, bugs haven't been a problem. The most work here is pulling grass. Today I bagged two of the Turkish PI 405568 and one Bulgarian called Nevrokop #5 PI 286823. This patch contains flue cure varieties, Orientals and cigar filler and binder.

My frenching wrapper varieties. I pulled the landscape fabric off to allow faster drying between rains. I plan to lightly fertilize them this evening. If that improves the frenching, I will add another light dose in a couple more weeks. This is a seed grow out patch with 15 different new wrapper varieties.

Alma-Ata 315 PI 293909. A very nice looking Bulgarian Oriental.

Djebel 174 PI 321709. Another Bulgarian Oriental.

I pulled a few baby Horn Worms off yesterday evening. This is my first wave of horn worms this season. So far, I had only found three. Bud Worms were a different story. They tore me up. BT is on the agenda for this evening when everything is in shade.

Impressive grow. I don't think I could handle that much leaf. Your two full-time employees must be really tired.

I will be curious to learn how the plants in deep shade turn out.

wish I had that much room Knuck! nice job

Thanks. The lower grow out patch has 3-4 plants each of 45 different varieties. Keeping them all separate is going to be fuuuun. I really like the surveyors tape I'm using to label the seed bags. Cheap, fast and holds up very well. The paper company labeled some pines with it that had pine beetles in them. They've been there over a year and the writing still looks fresh. I tie it on just above the cable tie that's holding the seed bag on. I'll break the whole top off when it's ready and the tape will stay with the bag. As the plants grow and begin to crowd, I may use the surveyors tape to label each plant so I can keep the leaves seperate at priming without having to look at the stakes each time. The stakes will be hidden by the leaves by that time.

The two employees have it made in the shade.

The wrapper patch gets about 3 hrs. of full sun each clear day with mottled sun off and on the rest of the day. I think the shade, rain, overcast days, landscape cloth and compacted soil all contributed to the frenching problem.

Is good to see the weather is treating you better and tobacco is growing! Looks like a lot of work with the patches in different places, you'll need 2 more full time employees to work the seed when it comes time.

Yeah, good to see. All you need is about 20 more days of sun and you'll have a ton of leaf.

Wow looks good. I started some in a pot in a mini green house outside in full sun that should not be to much right with the water build up on top in the plastic lid.

Their looking good! Knucks.
Man you all been getting the rain this year, my ground is still moist as hell.
Now their getting some good sun it will be like lighting a fuse on a bottle rocket.
And you'll swear the suckers grew 2 inches over night.

I've had midday rain showers the past two days with hot sun before and after. My younger plants have wilted down like limp lettuce. I'm going to look them over tonight and see if they have bounced back. Right now they look like prime candidates for sun scald. I have my fingers crossed.
