An amusing and thoughtful gift

I just thought I’d share this trinket my partner gave me for Christmas. It is an ashtray with the form of what I can only describe as a posh travelers smoking kit: the stainless steel accoutrements are magnetized and it has a beautiful walnut veneer. My favourite part, however, is the Robespierre vibes I get when I set the guillotine in its place. Vive la révolution!

You caught me, I had it backwards for the photo. Or maybe the aristocracy needs a wee trim on the other end so they can't run away?

I had that thought too, though it really is a guillotine cutter and I have doubts about how effective it would be; its a single flat blade so it wouldn't really do any 'tucking'... In spite of my misgivings, though, of course I'm going to try it.
