Last night i got all the seeds started..this year ill be using a heated seed germination mat. all the seeds were purchased from northwoods seeds...( which is run by a member of f.t.t. )

Bannana leaf
Brown and williams low nicotene
Virginia bright leaf
Golden wilt
Monte calme yellow
Yellow twist bud
Bursa
Izmir ozbas ( turkish )
Lemon bright
Costello negro..

Those i have started..ill be doing 4 more strains from my own seed collection i just havent decided yet what they will be.the goal will be 400+/plants...

During the season i plan on building a drying barn.what im. Currentlly using is gonna be too small for this grow..

Ill be starting them under cfl's..and then graduate to a 400/watt metal halide light.

Looks good. Have you grown bursa before? If so, how'd you like it.

I really like the bursa..its the third time ill be growing it.. Certain strains are a keeper..bursa is a permanent part of my turkish selection..this year im trying new turkish strains.and if they do good they will be grown again..i like to have at least 3 turkish strains in the mix..

Im spinning the idea of doing some lizard tail..silver river..or white stock burley..and i may do 3 cigar strains for flavouring..
.
Thus the reason im undecided what ill grow from my own seed collection

Chicken, I think you'll really like the Izmir Ozbas. I grew some last year and it's one of my all time favorite Turkish types.

I second the motion on the Izmir Ozbas. Also, since I started using Dark Air in my full flavor cigarettes, I can't do without it. Nice full flavor and nicotine punch. I also use Maryland to tone down the Burley and add a great flavor.

Chicken those look awesome! I just wanted to give you and all reading a heads up before Anyone goes and buys a HPS light. I would strongly recommend against it for two reasons. hPS promotes a bloom/flowering cycle in plants due to its far red spectrum. Your seedlings will get stretchy and perform poorly as most seedlings do under this light. They are primarily used for force flowering plants in greenhouses and landscape lighting. Secondly the lifespan and electricity usage and heat on those bulbs are horrible. You will have to back them off so much that you will loose a considerable amount of PAR(useable light). If I were to recommend a bulb brand I would go with pulserite or hortilux they are more balanced.

Again for germination indoors I would use a MH bulb over HPS as you suggested anyday as it has a blue shift ideal for vegetative growth and leafy plants. But they still use a lot of energy and can fry seedlings in a heartbeat. Also the lifespan of those bulbs is horrible after about 90 days of use they produce about 50% less useable light so you will need to replace them about every year or so.

Now all that being said you can order a 4ftx4 grow t5 system with bulbs from home depo for 100 ish with free delivery. The llights come with with 6400 vegetative bulbs which is probably similar to a MH bulb spectrums you were eyeing. These lights produce little heat and per watt have the highest output so they are way more efficient. You can place them a few inches above your plants due to lower heat and will get much better results as light falls off 1/3 for ever foot from the bulb. Also the lifespan is crazy. I have two that we have been using for our garden to start seedlings since 2000. Also the bulbs are like 5 bucks to replace (1000bulbs.com)when they go out which is about every 5 years lol and they work great.

^^^^^^ thats good info. for anyone who may know nothing about them...

my cfl's are once again doing a fine job....and the setup im usung this year... could hold 5.... double tube lamps... with plenty of space under each..

so i may run them thruout the starting phase... but if i get pressed for room... i may fire up the 400. but only if i find i need more space. than what i got. i plan on having 3-400 plants.

and the garden veggies,, tomatoes..peppers e.t.c.

any small seed veggie that takes forever to get going.. all that has to be growing at the same time, eventually.

im thinking ahead of my hanging area. and how im gonna do it,,

..i think im gonna use wire, and tobaccoo sticks.. and use a design, that ive found in old bacca barns,

such as this one.

..IMG_20150129_105108298.jpgIMG_20150129_105131406.jpgIMG_20150129_105243165.jpgIMG_20150129_105228292.jpg

mainlly to just colour cure it then put it in hands and kiln it, im going for a massive grow this year

Dude that barn looks awesome! I have a spot in our hay barn set to cure up mine this year. I was just going to cut the stalk and hang the whole thing on some wire or twine. I have 144 plants getting ready to go out. I figure that will do me for a bit for all the mistakes I will make until I get the curing growing and everything else down.

Haskowo and Tasova are Hungarian types like orientals. If you don't plan to build a shade structure for the CT Shade, I would recommend CT Broadleaf for a sun grown wrapper. Members that have grown the CT Shade in full sun reported unsatisfactory results with it. Little Dutch and Zimmer Spanish are great filler varieties. Other members say Havana 425 is really good in cigarettes. workhorse grew Metacomet and liked it for a wrapper.
