I'm all in for a much improved attitude & effort this coming season , I have been offered a good selection of seed to add to my bank, ... but I'm thinking, I may be be better off by growing varieties that are known to be used in a particular country /region /state , for example Cuban cigars may have maybe 4 > 6 varieties that are the bases for them , with a few hangers on

same with other areas,

was reading ' what did you smoke today ' and I see many go for orinco 98 , mata ? ha2000 ( I know these names are wrong, but with my computer skills , I daren't try and go back and check, for fear of losing this blurb )

I don't mind shagging around with different leaf ... just thinking maybe best to start with a genuine combo, although it may turn out a bit/lot different , depending on many factors, gotta be worth a try

Knuckle went to the GRIN site, very interesting to see the seeds by country. How do I know what tobacco it is( cigar, dark or flu cured)

click the "Observations" link if there is one. Most have it, some do not. It will take you to a page that gives average plant height, leaf size, days to Maturity, etc. Plus the Class.

Sometimes, there is a "PDF" link that will give a little bit more information. Sometimes, only a PI number is given on the variety page and the variety name can be found on the PDF.
