This past September when I was kilning some tobacco I threw in some green leaf as an experiment. I basically picked some green leaf, bunched it like I was making a cigar, then tied a string around it as tight as I could. I then placed this "cigar" into a mylar bag and placed it into my kiln. I ended up leaving the bag open for almost 2 weeks because the "cigar" was very wet. The smell while in the kiln was very unpleasant. After 4 weeks I removed it, left it sealed in the bag and took it out today for photos and a smoke. The smell before smoking was reminiscent of Mapacho. I was pretty sure this would be one rank tasting smoke but I was very surprised. The leaf was Yenidje. It tasted very mild and slightly sweet in my Mark Twain cob. I plan to do a lot more of these next fall.

I tried it in an oak cigar mold this year, and pressed into a plug and vacuum sealed last year. Both looked almost good but were horrible.

Doing the string wrapped method you did must be the ticket. It lets it breathe.
