today i took a lot of backroads, in north florida, on purpose, to see the widespread of the heavy rains we just got,,, we were allready flooded,,, before these downpours,

...i went thru the state forest, and seen water flowing in little streams out of the woodline, escaping the overflowed swamps, that encopass that forest....

i went by a dirt road, and noticed a '' road closed'' sign,,,

and as i scanned across the landscape, i seen a 7 digit '' pivot'' watering system [ which is a irrigation system that covers acres at a time. as it slowly walks, in a circle, this particular system proablly covered 300 acres, in one circle,,

but what made me say '' DAMN'' is thier was no dirt under this watering system, but a pond,,,,

his whole field was under water, and all the area, around his field,,,, it was one big '' punch bowl'' that was full of water,

i hope he had crop flood insurance, but really all the farmer's in my area, are just getting started,,,, allthough im sure this field was seeded,,,proablly with peaunut's.

i feel for some people i seen thier property today...as i drove by.:(

i rarelly have to turn on my irrigation, if i pay attention to the dew,, and the daily rain..

florida, is a tropical place,,, the price you pay for being surrounded by water,,

we have a lot of potatoe farmers, also, they love this moisture,

so some cry,, while others celebrate,

I've been having the devil of a time trying to get my seedlings hardened off with a day of sun, a day of full clouds, a day of rain, then start the cycle all over again.

thats why it's wise to look at the '' shape'' of your land and the surrounding area, to make sure you dont build,,, '' in a punch bowl '' because we are tropical,, it will rain, and it will rain a lot,

all the rivers are flooded,,, to record levels right now,,

And out here, they never stopped talking about extreme drought. We are under a fire watch again today...steady wind at 35 mph, gusts to 40 this afternoon.

Here it would be welcome as far as wind. Low spots are great and hold the little water long enough to do good. As desertpipe said now the fire danger is high. let alone They want to raise our water bills a few bucks. But We still have plenty that can catch fire- Had three fires this year so far. The wind can send sinders a few miles away.
