Gonna be my new barn

Ok so i found a old dabacca barn thats somewhere between 100 & 150 yrs old and the guy is going to let me have it to move it. It's the old cypress type log cabin style and its fallen down .It's about 25' x 25' and the way i figure it i can get a nice 10' x 10' x 10' tall barn out of it, It's rough now but.

Come on down you can have whats left over,and only one yankee joke per day ! It still has the original fire stoker pot made outa red brick . The wood is so hard i'll probably have to pre drill the holes before i can drive a nail...LOL

I don't do Yankee jokes any more. Nobody understands them but Yankees and they don't think they're funny.

Do you mean to say you're gonna NAIL it together? Seriously, isn't it pegged together? Mortised, tenoned and pegged?

The lap strap gables are nailed together. the logs have a layer of red clay between and mortar over it. there is a special newer ridge vent on top but i cant makeout the writing on it

OK After after the mortar and red clay how are the logs fastened?

that barn does look good,,,,

it can allways be downsized a little ,, to make sure all the wood you got, will fit,,,,when you put it back toghter,

That's what i plan chicken. John there nice motels but my wife may feed you to death,she was raised by her grandmother and cooks southern .I gained 70# since we married.

I'm hopeing to start this weekend,and dont worry i'll document everything from teardown to finished product.You guys will get sick of all the photo's. Yall fellas are welcome to come on down but be warned my wife gets her feelings hurt if you dont eat a second plate ! Hey someone planted veggies in my tobacco garden! LOL or is that gonna be tobacco in the veggie garden hmmm.
