Green spots on air curing leaves

Hello everyone, I am new to curing tobacco and am seeing tiny green spots on my leaves as they are air curing as seen in the picture (I apologise for its low quality)



Is this mould or simply discolouration? It does not rub off from the leaf like I would expect mould to but I wouldn't know. The relative humidity in the room they are drying in is around 60-70% and about 23-25 degrees Celsius. They have not been getting much air flow either so I will be putting a fan in the room.

It appears to be remaining chlorophyll to my eye and if so, will eventually turn to brown. Just keep an eye on it for now. How do you plan to use it? Cigarettes, chew, cigar wrapper?

Thank you for your reply, I plan on using it for cigarettes so I'm not particularly bothered with how it looks, as long as it smokes nicely. I will keep an eye on it and if the spots don't turn brown should I then assume it is mould? Many thanks.

It would be a concern for chew or cigar wrapper that you put in your mouth but the combustion in a cigarette will kill the spores.

Hey everyone. This is my first attempt at growing and I have started with burley and virgina gold. Im from Augusta Ga and have recently had some leaves get to the point where I believe they are ripe. So I went ahead and grabbed a few and am now attempting to air dry/cure under a backyard gazebo...

Is there any way to mellow out shredded tobacco ?

I have had Auld Kendal the Three Castles and if you have some red it accents the lemon as well. I am curious to what value brand you smoked. The only bag tobacco that is worth buying is D&R. I find when I get the sale its about 12 dollars a pound and I tend to get a full pound of tobacco or...

I agree with Knucklehead it's just chlorophyll. If your worried about it being mold you can treat it with a 1% solution of Hydrogen Peroxide, just brush it on the spots. Try it out on one leaf and see if it disappears, if it doesn't it ain't mold.
