Hello,
Much thanks to the forum and all of its posters! I've learned so much from all of you.
I'm from New Orleans and now live in a suburb of the city. I worked on the sales side of tobacco in some form or another since high school and for half my life (tobacco product manufacturers, wholesalers, and a retailer).
I am interested in learning more about growing, preparing, and storing tobacco primarily for pipe smoking. I would like to educate myself and experience the processes necessary to produce usable (and enjoyable) smoking tobacco. The need to become self-sufficient when it comes to tobacco has been evident and continues to grow. I've been smoking a pipe off and on since '93, but it has become more regular lately. After ignoring Aromatics for most of my pipe smoking career, I've lately fallen in love with Edgeworth/Ready-Rubbed and Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic. One of my first goals is to produce my own (undoubtedly poorer) version of the Edgeworth/Ready-Rubbed blend. I've read countless posts and have gone through the Wiki and FAQ information. My knowledge has grown (though retention falters) and I thank you all for your input.
Thanks again for the forum and to the posters.
