This is a one hour video covering the history of the guitar, starting with the Arabic oud (al oud), the lute, the Renaissance guitar... all the way to the modern guitars. Each is discussed and played. What music were they ideal for? Why did they change? What were the advantages and disadvantages of the changes. If you have any interest in guitars, and an hour to sit back and watch/listen, this is wonderful.

An hour very well spent. I didn’t realize how little I knew about the actual history of the guitar. Movable gut frets, half flat notes, and I was so surprised to learn that tablature has been in use for 400 years! I always thought of it as a modern day cheat sheet, not much older than the internet.
I have always been intrigued with eastern music but after seeing an Arabic Oud for the first time on this video I don’t know if I could ever play one with my pot-belly!
Very informative video and super talented hosts.
