I wouldn't trifle you with my thoughts but I will say that I liked your ending a heck of a lot more than Don't Look Up, which of course just happens to share a similar theme. Also I have to say nice touch with the Wile E. Coyote image.

Don't Look Up

Have not seen it. "The Martian", which I did watch, duplicated a theme that I had written about some years earlier. Certain thematic notions seem to seep through the ground water of a culture, and result in clusters of similar backstories.

If you have absolutely nothing worthwhile to do today, 18 JAN 2022, starting at 3 pm EST (2000h UTC), you can watch a live stream this overhyped asteroid zoom past Earth at its closest approach, which is about 1,000,000 miles (lots of kilometers).

If you miss this opportunity, you'll have to wait another 200 years (lots of months).
