looks like the eye is going to be about 125 miles west from my location,,,, but it will be a cat . 4 which is nothing to play with, a cat 4 is what hurricane andrew was when it hit homestead fla. in the 90's,

im pretty buckled down i have 60 gallons of water on standby. and another 225 gallons in my garden holding tank....

im worried about my greenhouse,,, it has allready took high winds this year and stayed secured, but im gonna be experiencing some high winds from the outer bands of this thing,

i'll take some video of it as it rolls and rips thru my property...

im gonna put some leg weights on my chickens so they dont blow away,,,[lol]

wish me luck guys.... this is nothing to play with,,,,

my area is forecasted of having 60 m.p.h. winds,

JUST ANOTHER DAY IN PARIDISE,,

make that 125 miles east.....not west from me,

soon. im gonna head outside and get anything that may blow away and get it secured, the winds picking up. and it's starting to sprinkle here right now,

i may cut the bottom of my greenhouse away. so the wind will be able to move thru it freely, i got to get my woman to stock me up on beer, and tubes,
it's been a long time since fla. has experienced a cat 4 in my area, the interstates are packed, and from what i heard my town is gridlocked from evacuatees using back-roads to leave,

..im sure the damage is going to be very massive,,, ive got 2 things in my yard that im concerned with.. in my front yard i have a 60' sycamore tree,,,,and a 60' tower that i have my c.b. beams mounted on,,,,, it doesnt have any guide wires holding it,

the last storm [ hermine ] that rolled thru a couple months ago, had my sycamore tree dancing like a hula- dancer, the top was going one way and the bottom was going the other way... i have extra dirt piled at the base of this tree, and fertilize it regularlly,,,, i hope she stands tall. and dont decide to take a nap on top of my house,

i may take my semi and park it in a field near the house,

as usual when these things come thru.. i wont be sleeping but in the yard monitoring the sway of the trees, my mom lives next door, and her neighbour has some tall but thin pine trees lining her property line.. it's those trees im most worried about, if the wind snaps them half way up. they will land on my moms house, and shes not in the best of health. she's on oxygen,

so watching her place will be my top concern,

well i cut some big holes in the bottom part of the plastic on my greenhouse. hoping that will allow the wind to blow freely thru it,

tomorrow when it's expected to really be rumbling.. i'll put all my seedlings of my fall garden in my camper. to let them ride the storm out there,

it would be a shame to have them scattered all across the yard,

The 11:00pm update moves the path of the hurricane slightly farther to the East, so your winds may not be as bad as first predicted.

it's here,,,,,

it just started raining. and my town just entered the north-west tip of the outer bands,

the rain gauge is empty... lets see what the tally is when it's all over,

if any of you are intrested my town is LAKE CITY. just look where i-10 and i-75 cross each other, '' thats lake city.''

well brother... next time your planning on coming this way let me know and i'll send you my # and you can do a visit,

..........................................................................................

the weather is holding steady a little windy about 15 m.p.h. and a light rain.... they said 6 p.m. is when we will get the blunt of it,

so far the greenhouse is doing fine,,'' so far ''

if it survives this then i anchored it good, when i first constructed it,,, but anything like that you build in florida you better build it to take a wind,

i parked my semi in a abonded store lot,, '' dont want to take any chances with my money-maker ''

well it's a good thing but as far as my area. the hurricane was nothing,,,, we didnt even loose power.. just a steady '' light rain '' and 12 m.p.h. wind,

the bands from the radar view looked like they were going to nail us.. but dissapated as they got close to my area,

but im o.k. with a steady rain.. i prepped 2 rows for my fall garden hoping for a steady rain... i tilled in some chicken poop...and a fertilizer mixture of nitrogen.. potash...magnessium phospahte,,,,copper granules,,,,,ammonium sulfate,,,,iron,,,,sulfur....bat poop.... and lime.

im gonna put the brussel sprouts there. in about 2--3 weeks,

we will put the flag back up first thing in the morning,,,,,,,,,,,
