Thanks for posting that. It's a reminder of how truly simple and tedious it is to produce smokable tobacco.
That is essentially pre-industrial tobacco production of stalk-harvested, air-cured, toasted leaf. It is pretty much how it was done throughout the US air-cured leaf regions until the mid 20th century. The climate required to use prepared, outdoor germination beds was a large factor in the geographic distribution of the tobacco growing regions of 19th century US tobacco farming.
