Is it to late to start seeds?

I bought a bunch of seeds and had my first batch this year get scorched when I tried to get them to get used to the outside. Burnt within an hour. I put them out to early. But anyways is it to late for me to start and plant some seeds? I live in zone 7b. I think first frost is late Oct. If it's to late to plant outside i would probably try them in pots. What do you guys think?

Starting seed now means transplants ready in mid to late July. Average time to blossom is roughly 60 days. Add another couple of weeks minimum until the leaf begins to mature. Since Murphy always comes by my place to help out, I personally wouldn't take the risk of wasting all that effort on an increasingly fickle calendar.

Pots will give you a crop. Pots that have to be moved around when the plants near maturity is a major project. [5 gallons of dirt: 40 to 60 pounds; fully grown tobacco: 10 or more pounds)

If your growing itch is irresistible, you can try some strain of N. rustica that usually go from seed to harvest in around 50 days.

Sounds like you went to full sun too soon. When hardening off seedlings, place them in full shade the first day or so, then gradually move them into full sun over a few days.

Rustica is just beginning to establish itself here north of the 45th and it is not planted by hand, instead growing freely in accordance with nature.. I except a good crop, even if it is a few weeks behind.
