Most wrapping videos i have seen use one half of a leaf as 1 wrapper. Now given a situation where you have a large leaf, but want to roll short cigars, like a petite Robusto, do you still use up a complete half leaf ? Or is there a way to churn out 2 cigars from that. ? Could not find any video that talks about that.

With a large half-leaf, you can usually wrap 4 shorter cigars. I usually trim the wrapper to length prior to wrapping. The two possible wrappers from the outer edge of the leaf have smaller secondary veins than the two from the stem edge.

EDIT: Measure the filler length parallel to the secondary veins.

I did not have any leaf already prepped. Below is a relatively small, tattered wrapper half-leaf, and a small cigar for demonstrating. The wrapper is not in adequate case to wrap very well, and this small leaf could wrap two and possibly three small cigars. The width of the required wrapper just needs to be enough to overlap itself as you wrap. With the bunch aligned parallel to the veins of the wrapper, you can measure how much of the wrapper strip will be used. I usually just roll that first cigar, then cut the wrapper above the head, rather than in advance of rolling.
