Hi!

Does anyone know why the leaves become white instead of yellow?

I thought it was nutrient deficiency that caused it due to excessive watering, but I have added a lot of fertilizer in recent weeks and now I only water every third day but it does not seem to make any difference. The lower leaves are light green and they are turning white instead of yellow, while the upper leaves are very dark green.

is there anything i can do or is this crop F***** up?
They were planted on the 9th of May and topped a couple of weeks ago

burley leaf on the picture, but this happens to basically all the plants

It's too late to fertilize now. If you do fertilize now, the leaf will not cure properly.

There are two types of Burley. Red Burley, which I believe has been bred into extinction and White Burley. I'd just let it continue to ripen and harvest the leaves as usual.

It's probably worth adding that Chillard's White Angel Leaf, a freakishly white-stem burley, produced creamy white leaf on the plant, but all cured to a beautiful brown.

Two of us grew it out in 2015.

From my 2015 grow.

It makes a decent, mild, white-stem burley that air-cures to a light tan color, kilning to a medium tan. I've used it for pipe blending and making Perique, and as a mild burley, there is nothing particularly exceptional about it. Productivity is average.
