Lobelia inflata (Indian tobacco)

I just discovered this growing in my front yard today, I never even knew there was a plant like this in existence. I wanted to know if anyone here knew anything I haven't read online about it just today, I guess it is called puke weed as well since it is known for making people sick from ingesting it, it says the Indians would smoke it treat respiratory disorders and mix it with actual tobacco.

My first foray into smoking was Indian Tobacco in a homemade corn cob pipe. That was a long time ago. It's easier for me to recognise in the winter after the leaves have died. They seem to hang onto the plant quite awhile.

edit: I was wrong. What I smoked was Rabbit tobacco not Indian tobacco. See my post below.

Since they are from different Orders, Lobelia and tobacco are less closely related than potatoes, eggplant or tomatoes are to tobacco.

Rabbit tobacco!! That's what I smoked. I don't know Indian tobacco.
