Hello everyone. Greetings from Japan.

I'm hoping to recreate Germain's Royal Jersey Original Latakia blend using Maryland tobacco leaves. Does anyone know when Maryland tobacco leaves are expected to be back in stock?

If anyone has any tips or recipes for recreating this blend, I would be very grateful if you could share them. Germain's blends are difficult to obtain, so I'm really hoping to get as close as possible to the Royal Jersey Original Latakia with your help.

Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

From a commercial site:
“For Germain's Royal Jersey Original Latakia Mixture, selected Virginia and Maryland type tobaccos are carefully blended with a selection of Oriental leaf from Greece and Turkey, and with top grade Latakia.”

It looks like you will need flue cured Virginia, Maryland, a couple of Oriental varieties along with the Latakia.
A look at the blend could tell you approximately what ratios to start with.
Do you have any, so you can take small sample of it, and divide the leaf by color to get a starting mix ratio?

What other blends have you made?
Last month I purchased whole leaf tobacco for the first time, so I have not yet created any blends of my own. As I am very fond of Virginia/Perique mixtures, I bought one pound each of Flue Cured Virginia Bright Leaf, RIPE Flue Cured Virginia, Flue Cured Virginia Red Leaf, and St. James Perique Tobacco.

I plan to experiment, without regard to cost, to develop mixtures that I will not grow tired of smoking, even in large-bowled pipes. After that, I intend to purchase Maryland leaf and Latakia leaf and try to recreate Germain’s Royal Jersey Latakia Mixture. I would be very grateful for any advice from more experienced members.

Bob, I am using ChatGPT for the translation and then copying and pasting it here, so I hope the post is not somehow appearing in Japanese on your end. If that is the case, please accept my apologies.

I am still a beginner, but I would greatly appreciate your continued guidance and kind support.

The post appears in English. Thank you. Sometimes our technology is so helpful that it misleads us.

You will find links to two pipe tobacco blending books in our Index of Key Forum Threads, linked in the menu bar. The pdf version of the books can be downloaded for free.

Those are excellent choices. I also like mixing those. I would also recommend adding the Dark Air Cured to your collection. I don't have any specific ratios that I mix.
