Does anyone have a pound of the Nicaraguan habano seco 2015 or the habano seco wlt had right after that? I just ordered 2 pounds of habano seco and it's basically unusable for my purposes. I use it as both a binder and filler in a blend I've been making for a while and this new batch is very thick. Doesn't burn like a seco. If anyone is looking for a thicker nic habano I'll trade almost 2 pounds (used about 12 leaves from one of the pounds) for one pound of the previous batch or the 2015.

Seems like their newest batch of Nicaraguan leaf is all over the map. I ordered 2 viso recently and it was paper thin, very light in color and tastes like hay.
Still got it? I'm having no luck getting the product I actually ordered

Maybe you got my viso and I got your seco. Regardless I'll try to use mine up and won't be ordering any more Nicaraguan unfortunately. I have emailed Don a few times asking if they have sorted through their bales and had any more that resembles the viso from previous batches. No reply

Yep. I contacted wlt and was told by a woman there that it's just the difference in crop years
crop years don't turn seco to viso or vice versa. Then ignored by Don in pm. It's an interesting way to do business I guess lol
I have had the pleasure of sampling hundreds of different tobacco offerings from WLT over more than a decade. Variations from bale to bale and crop year to crop year can vary wildly. I have also grown, harvested, cured and fermented my own cigar tobacco for more than a decade. Variations from crop year to crop year, and sometimes even plant to plant can vary wildly. Sometimes seco is thick and small and occasionally produces oscuro leaf. Tobacco is an agricultural item, rather than a factory product. It always varies.
I sometimes complain about my own tobacco. But that's just the way it is.

I'd give Don a couple more days to respond, he's often pretty busy. Sounds like some bale labels might have been switched/mixed up or some things might be reclassified.
In the same boat here, getting down to it on my supply of nic condega seco which is an integral part of my best blends, so I need to reorder as well.

We recently received more than 40 bales of cigar filler and binder (wrapper is shipped in cases). Six of the bales were Nicaragua tobacco. The crew processed the tobacco as what the label on the bales indicated. We immediately began to get complaints about the Nicaragua tobacco. I inspected all of the tobacco and sorted everything according to size, color, and body. Two of the tobaccos appear to have been mislabeled.
As Bob has already indicated, every crop year is different and leaf size and color can change dramatically between crop years. Unfortunately, we had some other serious issues with this supplier and due to our inability to resolve these issues, the Cibao Valley line of tobaccos will be discontinued. If there is anything you really like in the line, I'd suggest getting some now because we will not be restocking anything from this supplier.
As always, if you're ever unhappy with anything you receive from us, simply return it for a refund. If you are returning either of the above Nicaragua tobaccos in question, I'll pay for the shipping.
