Nicotiana rustica is not wild tobacco. It has been developed and intentionally propagated for at least a couple of thousand years.

Is it really 9x stronger than N. tabacum?

Very few varieties of N. rustica have documented their nicotine content. Typically it's in the range of 6%. Orientals range from1% to about 3%. Cigar and burley varieties typically range from 3 to 6%. Dark air-cured varieties are often toward the upper end of that range.

Nicotine concentrations in both N. tabacum and N. rustica vary by variety, each growing season, local growing conditions and cultivation practices.

I've seen rustica seed varieties on sale from SE Asia, both American continents, etc. Either it's a really early seed carried by Man or really good at dispersal (I'm guessing the first).

Most seeds come with a warning about potential high nicotine levels. I've got a few "Aztec"-claimed seeds, will be interesting to grow.

I do have “yellow” rusticas seeds (Limonka and Sultan Albanian, both from @polygon55 ) well suited for cigarette blending. If you want a pinch of seeds just send me a PM with your address.

I will plan on getting some of those seeds. Thanks

Also what's a good blend to make with rustica? Can you make smokeless tobacco with it?

my daily cigarette blend has around 10% rustica together with air cured dark Va, burley and orientals. Rusticas have (once properly kilned) a flower-like aroma, mild smoke with no throat hit but a robust nicotine content. I have no idea on how they would perform in smokeless use though. I’m pretty sure @squeezyjohn made snus with his rusticas, there must be something in the forum wiki.

EDIT: @squeezyjohn discussion about rusticas is not in the forum wiki, it’s in the Index of Key Forum Threads here:
