I am going to start rolling corona size cigars. Does anybody have a rough estimate as to how many leaves are in the filler?

Really will depend on the size of the filler leaves and the blend you are putting together. Professional
rollers have their leaves pre sorted and matched so they know how much of each type of leaf they will use. You just have to experiment a bit. Do you have a mold or will you mold with paper strips? It’s helpful to have a professionally rolled cigar of the appropriate size handy so you can get a feel for the correct diameter. That will get you in the ballpark, which for home rollers is generally good enough( RG 44-46). Hope that helps.

This may give you a sense of leaf quantity.

I plan on starting out by making the mildest cigars you can imagine. Connecticut shade filler, Connecticut shade binder and Connecticut shade wrapper.
I am using the same type of leaf for 2 reasons:
1. To start out as a base type and work up from there.
2. Start it as a practice cigar to see where my strong and weak points are in rolling.

I have a 4 cigar plastic mold I bought on Etsy for $30.00 https://www.etsy.com/listing/431016...df:LTbd4630b9a6a8c8f645447abb048ef17887611b8c

A mold will help quite a bit in keeping the structure of the corona straight. One tip I can offer is give the sticks ample time to dry a bit in the plastic mold. I started rolling with a wooden mold and believe it or not the plastic molds took some amount of adjustment in process. The real key to rolling success is leaf prep. Having each element of the cigar in appropriate "case" yields best results. To compound this aspect is that each variety or priming level requires different amounts of moisture to work with. Rest assured though with enough practice, you will gain the "feel" for when case is right for your conditions.
