I have a friend who lives in AB Canada and wants to take a stab at growing as a hobby. I have more seeds than I know what to do with and wanted to send him some as a gift. Does anyone know the legalities of sending seeds across the border into AB?

I have done that. Place a small amount of seed (~1/8 tsp) into a clear, tiny Ziploc. Fill out the customs slip with "Nicotiana spp." [that's Nicotiana species], and state quantity 1 "in clear packaging", with a value of $3.50, and unsolicited gift.

There's no rules. Just don't call them tobacco seeds just to be safe. We Albertans order seeds from the US all the time

When I send seeds to other forum members outside Italy, I just use tiny ziplock bags taped to a sheet, and put everything inside a plain letter envelope, with just the address of the recipient. Never had a problem, and I’ve sent seeds nearly everywhere, only need to be sure that the stamps are enough LOL
