Hello everyone, new member here. I have a question. Never smoked in my life, pursuing it for health reasons. Bought a pack of smokes, smoked half a cigarette, didnt feel any diffent. Some time later, bought some loose leaf tobacco by first choice company, smells really good, finally got the courage to try a cigarette with that leaf, crushed it and placed into empty cigarrete with filter, smoked it, what a difference! Felt amazing, productive all day. Started smoking one a day in the morning before work mon-fri, saturday sunday no craving to smoke, this went on for a week, at the end of week one i noticed my teeth starting to wail, sensitivity and also tobacco breath (no issues prior to that)

Week 2, i bought some naturals tobacco thats processed with water only. Tried that, doesnt smell or taste as good. Noticed that the effects on teeth were lessened also. I also started using a bit of tooth paste in mouth to nuetralize the acidity? The first choice tobacco smells stronger and tastes more acidic if you try it on tongue compared to the indian naturals one.

1st week i smoked the teeth/gums were suffering.
Sat/sun break made pain go away.

2nd week smoking with bit of toothpaste in mouth and first choice made it not as harsh, but by friday i switched back to indian narurals. The teeth wailed and hurt.

On saturday, as my teeth were a bit better. I thought i would try an experiment. I lit up about a 3rd or a 4th of a cigarette of first choice in a coffee cup with closed lid and smoke direct to nostril (not through mouth) amd within an hour my teeth start wailing very bad. I wake up with tobacco taste.

Sigh. Idk guys, i hope its something i can figure out with your help. Im convinced tobacco used properly is an amazing substance, i felt it on my self, other the the negative side effect. Can anyone help me figure how to fix this issue.

Welcome to the forum. It sounds like you may have an underlying dental problem. You might want to visit a dentist.

I'm not one to tell people how to live their lives, but tobacco is not a health product, and should not be treated as such. You are smoking for the wrong reasons and you should quit.

ChinaVoodooo, Right or wrong reason is a matter of perspective.

Bob, I would think I have good oral health as I dont get cavities and dont have excessive gum recession or anything of the sort and my breath is usually fresh (other then this experiment) I have used spry xylitol toothpaste for last 7 years or so and only got one cavity when i switched to mainstream brand, I do not disagree that the problem might be with me since I dont see anyone else chiming in with same issue, even though my dentist saw nothing wrong with my oral health.

2nd poster, I will research that product, but i usually have no issues with dentine, i can eat ice cream and drink cold or hot without any flinching before smoking, i was under the impression that maybe the product is too acidic and attacks the enamel? But i got same effect by bypassing the mouth, idk, maybe there is an underlying gum issue? Ive read of smokers stopping smoking and having gum issues because their "forever swollen" gums now stop swelling and cause temporary pain etc...

Any input is appreciated and I appreciate everyones time.

You're right. It is a matter of perspective, and you have the freedom to do whatever you wish with your body. Let me rephrase in an attempt to make explicit that which I intended to be implied by the tone of my last post.

This forum is not a place to discuss the health benefits of smoking cigarettes. Refrain from it.
