I have been moving buckets of rocks from one of my rental storage units to one of my shipping containers.20211007_131249.jpg20211007_155833.jpg
Primed most of my remaining bacca because of a freeze hitting tomorrow.20211008_175557.jpg20211008_180303.jpg
Applied an amazing top coat to an epoxy, faux granite countertop. A lot less glossy and a lot harder. First time using this.20211008_175329.jpg20211008_175415.jpg20211008_175404.jpg

does fermenting not affect the flavor of the end product in dip?
Fermenting is good for bacterial growth? Fermenting is an inexpensive way to age tobacco..
Not sure..lots more smarter guys than me probably know.. I'll still be better looking though..hehehe

Raises carcinogens I believe. More opportunity for the bacteria to cause baddies. Hopefully someone will come along and clarify it.
Heres a picture of one of the things I did today. Any guess on what it was? Hehehe 20211010_184225.jpg

Burned construction waste and turned a pile of compost to prep it for top dressing next springs planting beds. Have to water newly planted garden beds. Many Colorado winters are dry so you need to make sure you aren't hooking up hoses and watering in January. Collecting carrot seed. Like many veggies, carrots produce seed the second year so you need to mulch them heavily to protect the plants crown in winter.

Sorted and washed off some rock cores from our local area. You can sure tell we have a lot of metamorphic rock from all the feldspar, granites and mica in the cores.20211014_155022.jpg

Tell me about those gorgeous counter tops. Is it an epoxy paint on top of Formica?

That's 12 layers of paints,
metallic powders with epoxies mixed in layers for depth. Then a final flood coat to seal it all in. One more layer on top this glossy layer to do a matte finish and get a really hard countertop.
Start with MDF board to build the counter top. Then a couple layers of black epoxy primers, sanded between coats so the epoxy will stick.

20210830_183430.jpg

You use different earth and metallic colors on top of a fresh layer of epoxy. By using alcohol to carry the metallic powders when they are sprayed on an alcoholic base like fresh spray paint, they fracture and disperse. Here are 2 colors just sprayed onto the top. Note they havent spread and fractured..YET..Screenshot_20210830-233413_Gallery.jpg

The sprayed droplets of metallics shatter and slowly spread across the wet paint or 94% alcohol, depending on the depth you want. Faux granite in this case. Build up layers and depth. Sanding lightly between layers. The hard, last top coat is a shiny, matte and hard as stone.

That looks great. I suppose you could refurbish old countertops in place without removing them? Perhaps plastic filler and primer in the dings and scratches, tape, paper, and plastic sheets. Is it a rattle can spray or air gun and compressor? You‘re doing a great job. I wasn’t sure what it was until you said epoxy.

Yep can redo old counter tops.. clean thoroughly with chemicals to get rid of all oils, soap etc. Repair chips, dings and dents with bondo epoxy..then a couple layers of bonding primer.. then start in.. rattle can.. have to get around quickly because the clock's running as soon as the epoxy starts getting mixed.. really fun, detail oriented and satisfying.

Epoxy has really changed over the years. 20 years ago I was doing Redwood burl,
20211014_204546.jpg
I picked up on the Oregon coast or Red Cypress I'd load up on in Florida. Simple 2 step epoxies. Then they started getting more versatile. We did the inside and outside bars with it and it was great.

Let us embed different articles. I put hundreds of dried, pressed flowers in it. Fun stuff..little spendy..
