Killer frost last night. We had a touch Sept 24; I harvested all but one main leaf and a few top suckers on each plant the night before that one. Left them on the off chance I'd get some more growth, and they did add some length.

And yesterday I brought in the remainder. I'm keeping them separate to see if they indeed have a better taste than the lower ones, as some reports have indicated.

Now to compost the stalks. . .

I have my stalks in the burn pile...I'd rather not compost them just in case there are critters of any kind in there then have them reintroduced in a future crop. Ash is beneficial to soil .

Yep, same here. Amazingly I was able to harvest the last bit of leaf last weekend, all that's left out there are suckers. Got some nice looking leaf curing away, almost done doing that too.

How many days from transplant did you get in your season, Jack?
Best
rc

107 - 114 days.

Most were in the ground June 12; some donations (CT157) and my "spares" set aside as insurance were planted June 19. It was a surprise to me was that the later planting did as well as the early lot!

The seed heads on the GL939 and CT157 are still in the process of turning brown, and I've cut those stalks and hung them inside to finish ripening. That worked ok for me last year.
