So I am not sure if my tobacco got too dry and is just garbage now. Its brittle to the touch. Can anyone please tell me if I can still ferment it or not?

Thank You

Drying out is not a problem at all. Totally normal.
Rehydrate them cautiously.
I recommend spraying each leaf with a spray bottle a few times and putting them in a plastic bag for a few hours.

Yes I've found that rehydrating the leaf after such a strong dry down leaves the stems firm and small. It's much easier to destem that way. You just have to be really gently with them because they break extremely easily which leaves holes in your leaf. Not a big deal for pipe tobacco, but it is if you are wrapping cigars with it.

Thank you all for the help. I do have one more question for now. haha

I have my rigged up fermenting box but the thermostat Im using to control the temp only goes up to 108F. Will that be good enough for the whole process or should I get another?

Search Amazon for "digital temp controller 110v". The kind that are plugged into an outlet, rather than manually wired, are by far the easiest to use.

Be sure to check that it is 110v, and that it will reach at least your desired temp.
