Hello everybody,

I'm interested in the history of the Western United States and Canada. I also like to collect heirloom seeds from vegetables and such with roots in and around the area. Does anyone know if there are any tobacco cultivars indigenous to here or the Northwestern United States? I am familiar with quadrivalvis, but I am more interested in any varieties that may have been cultivated in Alberta, Montana and Wyoming by indigenous peoples.

A wealth of information, thanks Bob. I had no idea that quadrivalvis was cultivated so far east. I remember seeing a lot of trade items from coastal British Columbia at the Plains Indian Museum in Cody WY. Not so hard to imagine that some of their tobacco made it to the prairies as well.

Great question and hello to you too. I like your idea of collecting and look forward to seeing where this thread goes. Catch ya round.

Thank you very much, looking forward to seeing what else comes up as well.

Also, thank you for your service
