You want it slightly dry to ensure that it does not mold. The most effective storage options are sealed Mylar bags and glass jars with new quality lids.

Edit. The benefit of jars is you can visually inspect them. The benefit of Mylar is that you can remove much of the air before sealing.

This is my own personal experience... I like to use 1/2 gallon mason jars, I keep my tobacco slightly "in case" and very seldom experience any mold. I also use vacuum seal bags for a pound or more. I do not completely vacuum, only enough to leave everything pliable creating what I think they call an anerobic environment. Good tobacco only gets better the longer you age it.

I have no experience with tobacco yet, but my plan is to use mason jars with two-way humidity packs (69% RH). I thought about using 62% and 65% as well, so we will see. I believe 69% is recommended for non-Cuban cigars in a sealed humidor.

Ziplock bags. When I was getting bulk tobacco that was how I did it to see what was going on in the bag. Peter Danish. I still have some left and it is getting to be 10 years old
