Very fine tobacco shredders

I’m looking for a tobacco shredder that cuts into very fine strands, similar to the loose tobacco in commercial RYO pouches.


It’s not been easy to find something suitable for a home grower. I’ve tried a manual guillotine slicer, a standard tabletop shredder with combs, and even doing it by hand — but none of them come close to the fine cut you see in commercial products.


If anyone has been able to locate an affordable machine for home use, it would really help.

Most tobacco shredders I've seen marketed for home use cuts 0.8mm shreds such as this one from Whole Lead Tobacco:

The cutters are self-cleaning, eliminating the need for rakes or what most people call combs.

Personally, I wouldn't mind finding a shredder that cuts 2mm shreds maybe even 3mm. I prefer wider shreds for my pipe tobacco.

Very affordable in my opinion and they have different size cutting rollers from 0.8 -6mm (various sellers)

Cutting by hand is my choice. I've had some awful experience with shredders, they always get congested and it's not fun to clean them. I can't do exactly what's in this video, instead I roll the leaves into a small cigar shape and cut them with a sharp knife. Even if some shreds are 3+ mm wide they are still good for cigarettes or pipe.
