They germinated!! In 6 days.

It's my fourth year of growing tobacco but every time I get anxious in the beginning to see if the seeds germinate. And they did :) Most of the seeds are Aztec Wild (my main focus), and Monte Calme Brun in the rounded container. No Burley as it didn't grow well last year. I switched the lights on as soon as the seedlings showed up hence the colour.

Happy growing season to everyone!

I do this. Specifically, I did this again this year. Started on Sunday, the Criollo 98 came up yesterday.
One year I was so convinced I'd done something wrong I double seeded my cells. Thinning was a job.

Previous years I just tossed the seeds into a container and then dug them out one by one to transplant. This time used small cells and a wet toothpick to spread the seeds around. Much better than seeding en masse. Yeah, I was supposed to put 2-3 seeds in each cell but it seemed precarious so I put more. Will thin them later. I still have the bigger containers as a fallback plan that is proven to work.

Three weeks since seeding. I'm not too happy with 4x3 cells, some of them turned out to be empty. Thinning is tricky too as when you pull a weaker seedling you disturb the good one too. No worries here, I only need about 60-70 plants so it will be more than enough.

This year the plan is to go from four stage transplanting to two. Bought these six inch plastic pots, I'll transplant the seedlings directly from here. It should simplify things. Are the seedling too leggy in your opinion?

this particular log looks shitty, I'll get back when there's something nice to show. The doubt creeps in again. Cheers to all.

Five weeks since sowing. Has to transplant the seedlings because they started to get too leggy and fall down. Need a better light source urgently... 65 plants in total got a new home :)

A week later, they grew quite a bit. The two in the larger pots are Monte Calme Brun seedlings, they start slow but then grow into big plants. I made half&half Aztec/Brun sigs recently, they are surprisingly mild. Ozzy the cat likes plants and tobacco especially.

This is getting out of control, I need a vertical shelf or a bigger kitchen :) Now I have 55 plants in the bigger pots that will go outdoors in a month. And I will need 60-65 of them, so I'm on a good track. Hope the timing will be right.
