Hi guys, Im located in Czech Republic, I would like to order some seeds for making my own RYO cigarettes

Can You advice me on species of tobacco? I would like to make some really strong blend. I like Winston black and time to time I enjoy Lucky Strike additive free or Pueblo yellow RYO

Also, the summer now is very hot and rainy days, can I put The seeds straight into the garden ground or should I first grow it in yoghurt cups or so?

What would You advice, I even do not know of its not too late to start planting now...
Maybe I can only certain species, again, need help please, not to waste money.

Last, but not least, can I grow in some big buckets or its better straight to the ground? What are my options?

Is there any good thread on all this? Theres too many threads and I need to act fast... So

Really kindly asking for help

Thanks!

Plenty of time remaining for you to act. If you plan to grow tobacco outdoors, you should start seed germination next February or March (2025). To grow from seed to transplantable size (germination indoors) will require 6 to 8 weeks. After that, you will need another 8 to 12 weeks for the tobacco to mature.

For most American-style cigarette blends, you will need to grow:
  • a flue-cure variety (Virginia)
  • a burley
  • an Oriental
The flue-cure variety will not turn out as you expect, unless you build a flue-curing chamber in which to flue-cure the Virginia. Second best would be to plan on sun-curing the Virginia.

Says the Pueblo is an American Virginia tobacco without any chemicals.

I'm a beginner grower but I think the trick as a beginner is to try and select varieties with the easiest curing, or after harvest processing that is where the difficulty is. There is a thread for that already in the forum so you will be re-inventing the wheel to try an ask those questions again.

Also on NWTSeeds.com the seeds descriptions will say which varieties yellow on there own once ripe, these color cure easier.

NWTSeeds.com also has several varieties that work well as stand alone cigarette varieties:
Costello Negro
Catterton
MD609
Adiyaman
American 63
Black Sea Samson
Izmir Osbis [@deluxestogie note: The name is Izmir Ozbas, which translates to "original Izmir".]
They might be worthwhile to simplify your 1st grow. It can be hard to keep things labeled and stored straight, if you have too many, on your first grow.
