We've been getting some heavy thunderstorms lately. I can move mine inside in a couple minutes, but I only have three trays. You've got three million trays. Watch the weather.

Are you fertilizing?
I have some plants under real old bulbs right now and they are doing fine. I think they would get leggy if it was the bulbs? They got their first supplemental feeding last week. I really think 4yr old bulbs kicked my butt.

You think your behind, I'm still trying to get seed to sprout. They will germinate then when I move them to cell trays they die in one to three days. I'm on my third try. I figure if I can so to live and plant by mid June I should be alright. What do you think?Moved them all outside to the greenhouse today..... Maybe they will finally start growing. So far behind compared to last year.

I use the same method as you. Water could be an issue. After I seed I let the tray soak water up from the bottom and the potting mix is very wet and does not dry much for quit awhile. I did not have a problem last year doing the same thing. My first and second try was with this method my third try was sprouting in a jar and transplanting to cells. All three were a failure. This time I went back to seeding direct to cells but watching water to not over do it.My first year I started seed in April, planned early June. You should be fine. Late season curing can be hard, but with your flue cure chamber, not so much worry.
I don't transplant, I use a q-tip to drop a few seeds in each cell of the trays, then thin to the strongest in each cell over the first few weeks.
Maybe something in your starting soil is bad, or too much water (damping off)?
The last batch I planted about three days ago I did not use the plastic cover at all. Do you think I need to?

Thanks PO. But I would rather grow like a pro than look like one, and this years plants aren't all that good.
