A bad day......

10 min thunderstorm with 40-50mph winds and dropping an inch of rain. Was sunny and quiet an hour before.

Nothing to do but see what I can salvage.

Jeez that sucks. I need to go check mine. I had some high winds but only enough rain to keep the cement wet for 15 min. I'm still in a bad drought. Dogwoods are dying in my woods around the house (they're in the shade) and the grass is severely drought stressed. If I can count what I got today as a rain, it's the fourth one since planting the patch back in April, none of them giving more than a quarter to half inch, most of that run off due to the quick hard rain that did come.

Hopefully you can stand them up and press them in place with your foot while the ground is still moist. Good luck.

That's a lot of leaning plants. It looks like the leaf is still intact. If you can stand up enough of them to clear the path between the rows, you could probably just leave the rest of them.

I wonder if a cross path at the mid-point of the rows might have minimized the blow-down.

No "leaning" about it, most were flat on the ground. Doubt anything could have saved them. If they were staked up, most probably would have broken in the middle instead of laying down at ground level.

The house next door.... Wind enough to shear a 10" + dia pine tree 30' above ground and drop it on the roof. Vicious.

So, it could have been worse.. Got them all stood back up with no broken stalks. We will see how bad the leaf damage is in a couple days.
. the a golden burley got harvested instead of stood back up...... It was ready anyhow, just a question of this week or next.

And the repaired garden, the flute cure leaves took a pretty good beating but mostly OK.

I got all my plants staked up...3 strings per plant..top..middle..and bottom.

And your right..one string in the middle will make the plant bend and break.
