With all of the big closures of sutliff, Mac Baren, etc. I thought it might be helpful to create a blend library of matching blends. I have been scouring the uncased pipe blending thread to find taste alikes and there have to be more out there that aren't mentioned. So, if you have a blend that is very near or better than a existing or past commercial blend, please share.

None of these blends are mine, I'm just compiling them.

I’m only looking at EMP and it seems to be missing 10%.. if it’s as good as Bob’s Pearl of Shibham, could it be 31.25% lemon? Or did I miss something?

Tin descriptions state that EMP contains Red Virginias.

"Oriental tobacco is carefully blended with bright and red Virginia, pressed and lightly stoved, enhanced by medium fired latakia." (1985 tin)

"A Mellow and delicately flavored smoking blend with Orient tobaccos and light and red Virginians. First pressed and then gently roasted with a small amount of Latakia. Medium cut English mixture." (current tin under STG)

That's probably the missing 10%, or at least could fill in that gap.

The descriptions also show them as stoved or roasted, which can mean a few different processes. Bob put together a helpful post in this thread:

Stoved Virginia

The current tin is sufficiently vague so as to be confusing, so you might start by blending and lightly pressing together the Orientals, Bright Virginias, and Red Virginias; toasting/stoving them a little to smooth them out; then blending in the Latakia.
