All my flue cured cured first picture far right is spaced @ 2ft. All others pictured are 3ft. My orientals are in the sectioned bed. And on the end of that bed last picture is my beets. Look closely @ middle picture and you will see 4 tomato babies on the corner.

I envy the space you have for a garden! The plants will get huge with that kind of spacing and sun exposure! I choose to plant everything at 18" or closer because my garden space is limited...

I don't see a single weed in that garden, that definatly helps keep the bugs down when you keep the weeds down.

With another wonderful day of sheer 30 Mph. Winds I am starting to become just a little irritated and a bit angry. I am watching my hard work being destroyed. I can only imagine the patience Job had and wonder... He must have been one well rounded and faithful man. It is to windy to even fuss with the plants. BigBonner has plants for sale. Worse case scenario I may place an order. Nothing is dead yet but the elements are doing their best to rip my plants right out of the ground .

So long as the growth tip remains, it won't matter much how battered the leaves get. The transplants will recover promptly. Sleep soundly.

Levi, You will be surprised how tough and hardy tobacco is. I usually keep a few extra plants on hand in case of grubs killing them from the roots or stomped by an animal or some such, heh heh. Very rarely weather.

Your plants are still small . If the wind is a big problem you can always take a garden hoe and pull some soil up around them just so long as you don't cover the bud .

You should still be fine . The big problem is when plants get 2 FT or taller and blow down .Some varieties take more punishment than others do . I have had some varieties go down while others stood straight and tall .
Weather is the biggest problem with growing anything on a farm , Wind , heavy rain , hail and drought .
I have watched storms a many of a time whip , twist and blow large fields of tobacco . All you can do is watch and hope the damage is minimal .

I will top everything with flower heads tomorrow morning...

A friend of my wife’s is sowing seed bags for me now. Fifteen 32” x 24” & Fifteen 24” x 12”

I guess I didn’t make any crowning achievement on having plants flower in may. However, they were all started in the beginning of March... The only thing that I can come up with is that I stressed them somehow and it prompted them to go into reproductive mode. So much to learn.

I don't know for certain, but my limited experience has indicated that what may be the cause is limited root space. Or in other words, root space to age ratio. Other theories include but are not limited to general stress, changes in daylight hours, the ratio of gravity between the moon and Jupiter, and whether or not Sirius, the blue star is ascending or descending.
