I don't think I started my seed to early. I started them the second week of March and planted the first week of May. That's only seven weeks, as a matter of fact, I thought my plants were still a little small when I set them out. I have been thinking a lot about it also and can not come up with a solid answer. BB told me that old seedlings, wet, dry, or cool weather could produce early bud. The only thing I can think of for me might be, I had wet weather right after I set them out for about 2 weeks then about 3 weeks of dry with no rain followed by wet for another 2 weeks, maybe that triggered something. Would that type of weather be common to everyone with early budding?

My rustica flowered really early and now it looks like my Black Mammoth are getting ready to. I haven't had the prolonged wet/dry cycles that you have, precipitation has seemed ideal here: two or three sunny days in a row with showers in between. The field crops in my area (mostly corn, soybeans, and tomatoes) are thriving notwithstanding the late start. The only weather anomaly I can think of here is fluctuation in night time temperatures. For example, the low here tonight is 20C/68F but by Wednesday night the low will be 11C/52F. This is at least the third time the night time temperature has hovered near the single digits (Celsius) since I put the plants in the ground. Have you guys down south had similar cool evenings? Depending on where in PA BT is he has probably been experiencing similar conditions to me.

I planted about a week and a half after my last frost date just to be on the safe side after that horrible winter.

That pretty much describes the weather pattern I had since planting with the addition of many cloudy days. Even when it wasn't raining I've had as many mostly cloudy days as I've had full sun days.

I have to add we had hot muggy days followed by cold Rainey days.
Rainfall is way over average. Forth of July evening I put my carhart jacket on, it was cold at 11 at night.
I should not have been feeling a thing by then.

Put a addition on the garage for stalk curing. The sides roll up on a 1x6 for ventilation. She is crude but only bought one thing the tarp for the roof.
10x 12 should get all my HV in there 80 plants or so.
