i been thinking all day,, about this idea,,,,

i have my baccy air-curing in my old camper,,,,

but the other side of the camper has a very nice sealed '' roomy'' closet,,, with doors that are sealed tight

the deminsions are,,, 5 ft. high,,,, 2 ft. wide,,, by 2 foot wide,,,,and the other half of the closet is '' bare'' you can see above the fan,,, the other half,, i could close all this in and have a big curing chamber,,, and just move the now existing wall ...all the way over,,,

in the picture that would be from the far left,,,all the way to the far right of the fan,,,,

crock-pot curing on one side,,,of the camper,,,,,,and ,, hanging air-curing baccy on the other side,,,

my question is,,, given a space that big,, and tall.....what kinda bulb would i need,,,, im thinking a 120 watt heat lamp bulb,????

...

comments on my plans,,,,

i may make a journal on this build,,,

crockpot

a bulb just gives you dry heat, and not that efficient, power wise.
my suggestion: a crockpot gives you both heat and humidity, and a lot easier to control for good temp/RH.

I would think you would need a low cfm fan to keep the heat/ moisture slowly circulating. My kiln is 4 feet tall. I installed a 19cfm fan and it is too powerful so I don't use it. I only have one level that I hang my leaves from so its not a big deal, but I would think with 2 levels of leaves stagnation might become an issue.

I don't know anything about fermentors, but there is a huge difference between air circulation and wind. That fan will produce wind and I think in that small of an area, it will do more harm than good.

I got 3 brand new 12v .20 amp computer fans off eBay. I'll b using 2 and if I need to adjust the fan speed I'll have a potentiometer (variable resistor). If u want one I'll let it go for what I payed for + shipping.

thanks for the offer,,,,

but i got acess to a computer fan,,, which i will have in there,,,,

the fan and the bulb will be on a '' dimmer light switch'' to control heat and speed of the fan....

the closet wont be 2 tiered it will be one open area with 2 doors,,,

im gonna go with what i got and if i see i need more room,,, i;ll extend it over and close in the open area..

i changed my mind...

i made a decision today,,, im gonna make the kiln kinda big,,,,

from one side of the camper to the other,, i have the materials,,,

today i went and got, a 6 plug surge protected outlet,,,,a 250 watt heat lamp{clear} some jig-saw blades,,,and hinges,,,

im going to use the natural ventilation of the restroom of the camper, to exit the exaust,,,and run i pvc pipe out the bottom for fresh air,,,,

to be adjusted with duct-tape,, vs/ the size of the hole,,,

i got some '' linolium lined boxes that were part of a drug store here,,, they moved and tossed them,,, and i had i idea,, for the future kiln,,,

to the far left will be the original camper '' box'' im gonna remove the far right side,, and mount my 2 boxes to this original,,, and make doors,, a '' plexiglass window''

insert my old school brass temp and humidity gauges in the front middle,,,,

with a small fan in there,,,and a crockpot,,and lots of hanging baccy

with the 250 watt bulb,,, im gonna have to get the temp steady before i place anything in there,,

heres my boxes im gonna bump up against the original and make small doors in these,,, just to reach the hanging baccy,,, everything else will be sealed tight,,, plus sealing the doors tight,,,,

i may use cabinet doors from the camper stove area,, they are snug and have thier own locking device,,,

my cabinets and the light,,

...

thought's ?????

Home depot sells a Bottle Lamp Kit. You an find it in the same area that they have lamp repair parts etc. Is is a great small lamp socket that allows you to mount the bulb pretty much anywhere you wan it.
My first concerns with your idea would be.
1. will you be able to keep the temp up. This one is not a serious concern.
2. Humidity. I know here I cannot allow very much ventilation at all or I cannot keep humitiy above about 30%. the higher the temp goes the worse the humidity gets. I have to have pretty much air tight containers to make a kiln.

after much expermentation,,,,,and putting my light on a timer,,,,
and making the enclosure air-tight,, it has been a total sucess,,,

i have 4 bulbs, from 60 watts to 250 watts,,,,, that i regualte with depending on how i want the curing to go,,,,

the crock pot stays on at all times,,,, i frequent with it's settings also,,,

sometimes allowing them to go in heavy case, and then cooking them back dry,, to just start the process all over,,, e,t,c,
