I have to admit that I've never heard of ducking a cob!

If it's a matter of personal hygiene then I must obviously be filthy!

Frozen, this was my last year trying painted mountain. In multiple states it always turned out looking like sickly diseased inbred plants without vigor, containing one tiny ear if lucky. Otherwise it puts out this throwback that looks like what corn was improved from.

My seeds were from Baker creek, so maybe only theirs is affected, hopefully yours grow better.

Mine grew beautifully last year, and is looking pretty resilient this year too - mebbe I have better seed - got it from a local guy that grew it.

Dried out some of my husks to have a go at a cigarette rolled in just corn husk (made out of some of the lugs from my YTB) ... very nice indeed ... even though I don't really smoke much anymore - it was a really great feeling to smoke a cig made 100% from what I had grown myself - even the papers! Nice sweet taste from the corn husk and my own grown YTB was delicious also.

Interesting! My Dad said he did that before while growing up on the farm. I miss my Dad a lot.......it's been 18 years since he was alive.

I think it must have been the original Rizla (I don't know if you have Rizla papers in the US but it's what we always make roll-ups with in England) ... corn husks burn brilliantly and taste just a little sweet - I couldn't really glue them together - but just held it in the way that it couldn't unroll itself and it was very similar to smoking a roll-up cig.

Sorry about your dad ArizonaDave ... sounds like he was one of the good ones.

Thanks for reminding me. I rolled one up using F/C Brightleaf.
Turned out Good. But my kid comes over to the garage while I was sucking on the roach, standing in the door way enjoying it and asks me what I am smoking, I knew what he was referring too. Too young to know that crap.
Not bad I must say a little harsh but very bearable. Made me feel good to still be able twist a nice one 30 yrs. later.

Made another one today at the allotment ... my husks are still a little green so I've given them a curing string all of their own!!

This time it was silver river lugs ... much smoother than the YTB ... this smoking lark is getting quite addictive LOL
