we have had 14 inches of rain this month, some of the down pours have been BRUTAL. My roots are showing, and I don’t mean my mother in laws hair color…. My tobacco looks terrible. This rain has bent some of my stalks that I can’t bend back. AND I got white spots
That's a lot of rain. Bent stalks. Put a stake in and gently tie them into straight, otherwise leave them alone and they'll sort themselves out. White spots might just be sunscald, Did you have showers followed by sunny periods? Keep an eye on them in case it is mold.

Am I seeing interveinal chlorosis or is it the lighting? Symptoms of yellowing (chlorosis) and interveinal chlorosis suggests a nutritional imbalance such as magnesium or iron.

Nutritional diagnosis

Man, now I’m nervous. What can I do to fix that? Miracle Grow? I did that about 2-3 weeks ago. Is it salvageable, should I stalk cure the plants now? We have had SO MUCH RAIN. I wonder if that affected it. I want to perique/cavandish and maybe some to ferment for cigars

“Corrective Measures” and “Management” in the article are helpful, but are based on commercial operations dealing with acres.
”If soil pH is kept within the desirable range of 5.8 to 6.2 with dolomitic limestone, the available levels of calcium and magnesium will usually be high enough to meet the needs of the crop. Otherwise, 40 to 50 pounds of calcium (Ca) and 15
to 20 pounds of magnesium (Mg) per acre are needed from the N-P-K fertilizer. Even with proper liming, some magnesium deficiency may occur on deep, sandy soils (more than 15 inches to clay) under severe leaching conditions. In these instances, supplying 15 to 20 pounds of magnesium per acre in the fertilizer may be desirable in the second and third seasons after lime application. However, using N-P-K fertilizers containing calcium and magnesium will not substitute for using dolomitic lime if soil pH is too low. Be especially aware of low soil pH. The state’s latest soil test summaries show that just over 25 percent of the tobacco fields tested in the last several years have had a pH lower than 5.5, with piedmont soils generally being more acidic than those in the coastal plain.”

The frequent rains probably leached out the nutrients and changed the pH affecting the plants ability to take in the available nutrients. In the article, it says that when the pH is outside the recommended range to add x amount of calcium and lime per acre from the NPK fertilizers.

A lick and a promise hope and pray option would be to add Epsom salts to some water and hope for the best. Epsom salts is magnesium sulfate. I have added one tablespoon per gallon of water in my 1020 trays when the seedlings were yellow and not taking up the fertilizer. I suspected magnesium deficiency and they greened right up. I don’t know how much to recommend for such large plants in a patch. I would try to correct the issue before stalk cutting, the leaves look immature to me.

This May we set records for rainfall and EVERYTHING in the garden looked strange. One new bed I put in this year isn't draining (my fault) and all the pepper and tomato plants in the bed are small and consistently yellow compared to the rest of the garden that's had time to dry out.
Too much water can affect the uptake of nutrients. I wouldn't add anything until you've seen what it looks like when the moisture level returns to normal.

I bought epson salt. I had a glass of hot water that I dissolved the 5 TBS epson salt in, once dissolved I threw it in the bucket. Then, a tablespoon (or 2) of miracle grow. At the bottom of the 5 gallon bucket is a very concentrated mix waiting to be reduced. I thought it would be smart to move the bucket close to plants and fill it with garden hose; the hose would not reach. So I tried to spray the bucket to fill it, the bucket dumped all of that concentrate onto my plants. I feel like a dumb ass.

I added nitrogen and magnesium to soil and I think I’m back in business. We have had 3 days of sun, which after 50 inches of rain since 1/1/21, it has been tough to grow. The horn worms have been out in force the past couple days and I have pulled off about at least a dozen. This one was being taken care of…B051C04C-C17F-4B03-AFF3-1DE2978025C4.jpeg

IDA wish I checked for worms…. One week ago, I picked my seco and hung to air cure. Today Hurricane Ida knocked half of my ligero down, in the mud. The plants were very top heavy because it was just top leaf, and I was hoping for at least two weeks of plants having just top leaf. I went to hang the leaves of the plants that fell, and to my shock, horn worms destroyed my prime seco leaf while they were hanging. I killed 30 worms; when I hung them last week, obviously I checked for worms. More pipe tobacco than cigar this year I guess. I am so pissed. I tried my best to be organic, but one week of hanging green leaf, the worms destroyed it, 50 plants. However, praying for those west of me that were not so lucky to have just a few plants “felled”
