What do you think will be your best flue cure cigarette verities? I would like to find a type that has good yeald and a good bright flue cure taste. Next year I will grow mostly flue cure in my quest. Any suggestions?

African Red and DB27 are on my short list for next year, probably a couple more, once everything is processed and I compare flavor.

Sounds good. I'm not familiar with DB27. My African Red started out great this year but by the time I started to prime I had a blight hit it and my bursa and turned the leaves spotty and then brown all the way to the top of the plants. It is on the silver river but progressed much slower allowing me time to prime and cure. I will try to remember to get some pictures.

That is fungal Brown Spot. It persists in the soil, so if you can rotate to a different plot for a couple of years, it might become less of a problem. Also, removing affected leaves can slow its progression. The leaf is still smokable.

While collecting seed heads, Dixie Bright 27 has definitely earned a spot in the 2015 grow. The only one of my FC varieties to exhibit this kind of color,14112356533201.jpg texture, and maturity in the very top leaves, naturally on the plant. 14112355815980.jpg

Nothing new in the growing. Trying to work through processing for storage, some each night.

The FC shred color looks good in the bags. I do it that way also. 2 or 3 sticks a night or sometimes none.
I use the ziplock bags also but be careful. I have had a couple of bags go moldy in lasts years batch. This year I have been letting the zipper open to let it go to a lower case. I store on shelves so I can see the fruits of my labor.

Part of my thinking, was mold. I would rather loose a bag or two, than an entire variety or more bulk stored in totes or boxes. Minimize risk. Hopefully none of course..

I am going to pick up one of those cheap moisture meters with the long probes on it to check each bag before I zip it up completely.

Lonnie's Havanah 142 regrow. Not a lot, but I will let them go until we get near a frost warning and get what I can.14118281961861.jpg

Not just you. LIFE got in the way of tobacco this year. I still have 40 strings or better to process and one good late harvest to do right before frost. Then I can get some kilning done.

It looks like your seed is contained within endangered 35mm film canisters. Where does one find those?

Bob
I got a small grocery bag full, free for the asking at a local photo center several years ago. Great door dry storage of small items.
