Almost done processing. Kiln will be running in the next week or so.

2 16gal totes of shredded and one of whole cigar leaf.


Did some Silver River tonight. Nice color.


I have one good run of leaf left to harvest, tops and regrows, but leaf lacks signs of maturity, I will let it go as long as possible before first frost warnings then bring it in and see how it turns out.

Not only are the grow logs fun, but a great diary of trial and error too. I reference back to my last year's log frequently. Come spring I will read this one again completely.

Got the last shredding done. Yield is not what I expected, but should be enough to get me through to next year.

Considering I expected to loose half my plants a few days after planting, turned out pretty good.

Amazing how we take for granted the work that goes into a simple pack of smokes.... If I counted my time, and had no pride, gyo would not be worth it. I would simply buy leaf from WLT.

Ricky, I experimented with kilning shredded leaf last year, with favorable results. The bags within containers worked great, no need to add moisture throughout the process. Another benefit, I can fit the full year grow in a single run.

Did you do a shredded weight to plants ratio of the flue cured?

I did not. Leaf thickness was way off, yield weight clearly low for the number of leaves processed. On a volume basis, I would say most of mine weighs 1/2 - 2/3 of WLT flue cured for shredded leaf.
