I’ll first start, I apologize in advance if the 2 topics have been discussed on a previous thread. If that is the case, please post a link or where to go to look it up. I’ve been sitting through a lot of the years old posts/threads and have been finding tons of “gold nuggets” of knowledge.

1. Double binding.... When do you do it? Does it promote better nuances? Do you typically double bind with the same type of leaf or utilize 2 different types of leaves?
- From my current (newbie) thought process is that you would utilize 2 binders if the leaf is a little more fragile or if you want to roll a longer cigar. I would think if you used 2 different types of leaves for binders, you would get some profile change once you hit that second leaf? (I have not double bound any cigars I have rolled as of yet)

2. Filler leaf positioning...(perhaps I’m crazy here) Has anyone rolled a cigar while putting in small sections of different types of tobacco? Such as, let’s say you have a 6” Toro size cigar. You have some full 6” leaves for the filler, but have a “sprinkle” of let’s say Dominican Ligero in the first 2”, Costa Rican Ligero in the middle 2”, and then Nicaraguan Ligero in the last 2”? (Types of tobacco mentioned were just for example purposes. Could alternate any type of tobacco with each. I found an old post discussing flavor transitions and such on more mainstream cigars and was wondering if this is how it can potentially be accomplished or if I’m just over thinking this...

The outer binder takes primary tensile strength but works best with support. Usually an inner binder, (maybe just a piece for coverage) or as a base leaf in the filler bunch. At times it is the same leaf utilized in the outer filler leaves but, more often is not to add complexity.

Filler leaf positioning (perhaps not crazy there) is the bases in transition intent. It is how it is done.
