What kind of light is that? Lookin good :)

Edit: I did just notice something in the thread

starting your plants under "lights" share your experience

I don't use lights for starting seeds, but I can tell you the lights must be kept close to the seedlings or they will get leggy. Leggy baccy don't grow good.

In the most recent photo it's hard to see if those plants are leggy or not, (maybe you did the practice of planting the plant lower so some of the stalk becomes the root) but in a previous picture (the germination one) the plants look kinda leggy, did you use any kind of starting nutrient?

They have 17watt grow lights at walmart for 10 dollars ,it is hard to tell from pic plants are less than 1/2 inch tall, just the angle i took the pic from makes everything look big the lights are 2ft long and about 1.5 in from seedlings

The seedlings look very good. I always take the covers off the lites. Do those serve a purpose. If not I would take them off.

Looking good sir! One thing to note, I'm not sure how much of a problem you'll have with them. But I used the pots like you are using in years previous. When I'm hardening off my plants late spring with a fan running, those pots wick off moisture from the soil and can dry the soil out pretty quickly.

styrofoam cups will work well. i used them last year. and good thing removing them light covers,

i grew mine under the lights in the cups, till they got quiet tall.

here they are from last year, after they come out from under the lights, i like to introduce them to sunlight gradually, thus the one sided plastic, on my '' redneck greenhouse''

Read stogies 2012 grow log or look at Fisherman's grow log where I posted the excerpts from stogie's log. He trimmed his leaves instead of repotting and he even shows a side by side comparison of trimmed plants vs repotted plants several weeks later. It starts at post #31. It will save a ton of work and alot of money in soil.

Love the grow log! I do have a question, How important are the grow lights? Will sunlight from a windowsill suffice? thanks for the help.

bondo,
If you have a southern exposure that actually gets a half day of direct sunlight, then the windowsill is adequate. A southern exposure with a shading overhang is not.
