Cigars been thinking about this the last few weeks. Today I decided to give it a shot, never been much for cigars but now that I have learned to grow and work with tobacco who knows...
After making the one in the photo I think I will need to practice on getting the draw right. Rounding the end does not matter to me I will just trim them. I will need to play at a few different leaf combos to find something I like. This one is filled with dark air and one sucker (sweated) the wrapper is from my patch Stolak 17.

Looks great. I just trim both ends also. Easier to keep a good draw if the filler is in very low case dry but not brittle.

Enjoy. There was a special satisfaction in the first one I rolled.

Egg white is OK for assembly time but goes hard and "glassy" when dry and does not work very well. You might consider a Knox gelatin "plain" and a little water. Cheap and works fine for me. I've used it for years.

Where would I find that at the grocery store Baking? Am mowing grass but on a little break now and almost finished, I'll go get some when done with the grass. Than I'll be big time I even found a little brush.

I was excited and am wanting to roll more so I'm off to get Pectin.. The first stogie I rolled to tight, the second I smoked in the basement with no one around but Mr. Ale.
Mr. Ale and I had a good talk and thought about the stogie as it was smoked. He then introduced me to his great grand daddy, Mr. Daddy Ale. Daddy Ale and I had words
and he hit me with a stiff right hook and it was lights out! With no one to run the Cigar Factory it was closed but will reopen today.

My limited experience is I can wrap the binder such that the draw is a little light, then continue to roll the cigar across the table several more times with my hand, not only does it smooth the binder, but each time tightens the binder a bit. I just check the draw a few times during this process; rolling/tightening until I am happy with the draw. then put the wrapper on. Easier to do than to explain, but it works for me.

Certainly all valid observations to which I will restate the importance of using pretty dry filler. In addition to what you are doing having the binder in fairly high case, letting the cigar dry before wrapping will tighten them up a little.

Thank you JL. I highly value your input on the topic and do hope that even if you choose not to grow next year that you will continue to have a presence here with us on the forum.

Yes sir after watching that video and seeing how dry the filler was etc. the second cigar smoked ok burned a little uneven but was Ok for me. Don't give a damn what it looks like (I like UGLY) long as it smokes and I enjoy it.
I did enjoy last nights Stogie.
Went out an got the pectin had trouble finding it at Food Lion so I went to a Martin's they had it but after looking for thirty minutes I grabbed a clerk. They had an itty bitty section for canning and there it was. Had a few kinds I bought the natural. While I was there I looked for a container to put my stogies in and found a nice Pyrex container with a lid that really seals well cost 7 bucks and guessing it will hold about twenty. The basement is my new Man Cave the cure chamber is rocking, I got bagged leaf from the patch stacked on shelves, the mini kiln is sweatin, and now a stogie station. A smoker's heaven indeed.
