Hi
This is my first time growing tobacco here in NZ and I purchased a pack of mixed seeds. Apparently it was a mix of burley,Virginia &shirazi.
I need some help identifying if this is shirazi as it gets sun cured?
Apparently ChatGPT tells me the leaf has ruffles at the stalk. Are these shirazi ruffles in picture. Thanks

The visible petiole (stem at the base of the leaf) is not present in Shirazi. Shirazi is sessile with a somewhat asymmetrical auricle at the stalk. In general, identifying a variety from its photo is problematic. Your photo looks more like the heart shaped leaf of Samsun (assuming it is Nicotiana tabacum).

Shirazi grown in 2011. Note the leaf attachment at the stallk.
