My latest batch of homemade flake:
This one consists of approximately equal parts of:
Burley
Cavendish made from cigar rolling scraps
Latakia
Topped/toasted VA from a BOTL on the Puff dot com forum.
I moistened the whole batch with whiskey and some other flavorings - cherry, vanilla, almond, molasses. I didn't weigh it out beforehand but prior to pressing it filled about a third of a plastic grocery bag.
I took it out of the hydraulic press last night, and it's been sitting under some moderate weight (2 45# plates) since then. Size is 4"x4"x0.5".
I normally let it sit for a few weeks under the weights, but I was impatient and cut off a few flakes & smoked them this evening. Flavor is mellow and sweet from the VA, and a bit spicy from the Latakia, but it needs a little more convalescence, plus it was still a bit moist. Strength I would say is medium.
