One of my blue berry bushes. I have about 6 bushes. I had 8 but two died back to the roots and are send up new shoots this year.
They blue berries have been doing really well this year. I estimate that I've picked about 20 pounds so far.

Yesterday, I harvested the first (and only) veggie from my garden this year. A single, ripe tomato. For lunch today, I made a tomato sandwich (on toast, with mayo). A first tomato sandwich of the summer is always a significant event, something like an equinox. For me, it is a distinctive symbol of summer.

New veggie garden at the new house in San Antonio. Beans, squash, and pumpkins.

I cut-up a fresh, refrigerated tomato (home-grown Big Beef) last night, for dinner. After rinsing the cutting board, I failed to empty the screen trap. This morning, tomato seeds had germinated in the screen.

On the underside of the screen, several roots extended over 2 inches downward.
