I planted some dent corn for the cob for pipes and some Indian for the wife for her holiday decorations.
Chit that stuff gets big, I planted at the same time as some of my sweet corn and I will have sweet corn next weekend. Only one tassle on the other ones over 7 ft tall.

Climbing Tomatoes

Last year, I planted Scarlet Runner beans in the tiny flower bed at the corner of my front porch. This year, I decided to plant Yellow Pear Tomatoes there--four of them. From past experience, I knew that they would easily overgrow a simple tomato cage, and spread over the tops of nearby tomatoes. So, for this year, they were positioned so they could climb the wrought iron of my front porch.

I had hoped to post a photo of them laden with ripe, little yellow fruit. But so far, none of the 150+ tomatoes have ripened. With a storm brewing, I thought it might be a good time to capture a photo (before they all blew down).

They were initially staked, then gently guided into the interstices of the wrought iron for more support.

First corn from the garden this year. Looks like I will have a bumper corn crop this year.
And More cukes for the wife to pickle. I forgot to check the Zucchini, they are probably the size of baseball bats.

That looks nice! My grandmother could make some killer sweet pickles. I need to find out if one of sisters ended up with the recipe. I've never tasted anything even close.
